CoCoCondo GrandCayman

The Local Area

We have some wonderful neighbours! Here are things you can do within walking distance from us:

Macabuca bar

Distance from the condo: 200 yards/meters

This waterfront tiki bar and casual restaurant provides a great spot to have a snack, a beverage, and watch the wonderful Cayman sunsets. It is located right next to the more formal Cracked Conch. Offers lunch and dinner each day of the week, and an "all you want to eat" Caribbean BBQ on Mondays.  They have a "happy hour" on Firdays and Saturdays between 5pm and 9pm, with various drinks specials.

The bar is on the same site as the Sundivers dive shop, and many evenings after you have enjoyed the sunset you can watch the night divers going out, and watch their underwater lights as they explore the reef in the darkness.

The Cracked Conch Restaurant

The Cracked Conch

Distance from the condo: 200 yards/meters

More formal dining than Macabuca, both indoors and out on their patio. Voted one of the top restaurants on the island by Caribbean Travel and Life Magazine. The cocktail bar features many unique mixes, whether stirred, muddled, shaken or blended.  If you have a larger group, their Solo Room offers private dining for up to 30.  They offer lunch December to May and Dinner year-round (although they sometimes close in the low season - check the website for details).

Cayman Turtle Farm

Distance from the condo: 400 yards/meters

The original name of the Cayman Islands was Las Tortugas because of the large number of Green Sea Turtles that were found here. They were used for their meat by sailors passing by, and the locals started the trade. As the numbers depleted, turtle farming became more common. This is the last of the Cayman turtle farms, now a commercial farm, conservation facility and tourist attraction.

This is one of the primary visiting spots for cruise ship passengers. If you wish to avoid the crowds, we recommend only visiting this attraction after the ships have left or on days when there are fewer in port.

The Cayman Motor Museum

Cayman Motor Museum

Distance from the condo: 200 yards/meters

If you are a car fanatic or are looking for something to do on the rare day when the weather doesn't cooperate with your plans, this is an interesting choice. The collection boasts the original batmobile from the 1960s Batman television program, the world's first car, the Queen of England's first limousine, and an extensive collection of Ferraris.

The Shore dives off Coconut Bay

Shore Diving

If SCUBA diving is your thing, in addition to the excellent shore dives available from our condo complex (picture on right showing the boats moored at the sites and our shore ladder), there are two excellent shore diving opportunities within a short distance from us. Like many of the shore dives on the island, you need to rent a tank from the dive shop situated at the site.

  • Lighthouse Point - run by Divetech, located south of the Turtle Farm.
  • Turtle Reef - run by Sundivers and located by Macabuca.
