Getting Around on the Island

For maximum flexibility, we recommend that you rent a car for your stay. Please see the Getting to and From the Airport page for details.

Public Buses

The public bus system on Grand Cayman offers a flexible service at a low price. Buses are minibuses which hold up to 12 passengers. They have stickers on them with a colour and a number and have blue licence plates. Bus routes 1 (yellow) and 2 (lime green) pass by Coconut Bay. If you wait by the side of the road, a bus will honk its horn. Give a wave and it will stop and pick you up. Fares are between $2.50 and $5CI, depending on your destination. Schedules are "flexible" but usually run from 6am until 11pm Sunday to Thursday and until midnight Friday and Saturday. They run approximately every 15 minutes.

The various bus routes up West Bay Road to us run regularly, but routes to other parts of the island do not.  We recommend calling the number below to get up-to-date details.

Telephone 945-5100 for details.

There are many taxi companies on the island. Most cabs are individually-owned and operated and drivers must be licenced taxi operators. Rates vary and you should check with the driver before starting your ride with them. Often they will give you a business card that you can give to your waiter at your restaurant to let them know to come and pick you up after your meal.

You may find cards for local taxis in the condo, left by other guests. If not, please ask our property manager for a recommendation. The eCayman business directory website has a list of taxi businesses with phone numbers.
